Know us
Welcome to Domaine Gérald Talmard, a family-run winery located in Uchizy, near Tournus, in the beautiful department of Saône-et-Loire, in Burgundy. As a passionate winemaker, I invite you to discover the history of our farm, our unique know-how and our commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture.
A family history rich in traditions The history of Domaine Gérald Talmard goes back several generations. Our family, originally from Cluny, settled in the town of Chardonnay at the beginning of the 20th century, bringing with it a deep love for the Burgundy terroir. In 1975, my father Philibert vinified his first harvest on the estate, marking the beginning of a new era for our farm. In those years, few wineries produced their own wine. Philibert has been able to exploit the market opportunities by offering quality, healthy wines with a unique taste. In 1997, I joined my father to share his know-how and contribute to the evolution of our field. Together, we have combined our knowledge of wine chemistry and vine biology to create authentic and refined wines. | ![]() |
![]() | A know-how rooted in respect for nature Since 2010, I have been working to transform our approach to viticulture by focusing on reducing our environmental impact. In 2013, the domain was awarded HVE (High Environmental Value) certification, an award for our environmentally responsible practices, which include: Improving biodiversity: planting hedges, preserving uncultivated grasslands. Reduction of chemical use: 30% decrease in fertilizers and pesticides, with a preference for 90% organic products. Optimization of natural resources: installation of photovoltaic panels and rainwater recovery. These initiatives reflect our desire to protect the terroir of Burgundy while producing exceptional wines.

A natural winemaking for authentic wines Our emblematic grape variety, the Chardonnay, is at the heart of our production. This chameleon variety is expressed in various ways depending on the soil on which it is grown. To reveal its full potential, we have adopted a natural winemaking that respects the unique characteristics of our vineyard. Some of our practices include: Use of native yeasts: naturally present in our vineyard, they allow an authentic fermentation. Temperature control: to promote the formation of complex aromatic compounds during fermentation. Natural products only: we use SO2 from natural quarries and avoid petrochemicals or allergens. Reduction of SO2: we have eliminated its use during pressing to ensure healthier and more natural wines. These technical choices, combined with traditional know-how, allow us to produce fruity wines, floral and faithful to the identity of Burgundy. | ![]() |
